The Fishman "Active" Pickup includes the same features as the "Passive"
Pickup but also includes preamp to help boost the signal.
Hidden in the pickup's housing is a stealthy preamplifier with battery,
which strengthens the signal and preserves the natural sound of the
instrument
Fastens to the center of the cone in both "spider" and "biscuit" style bridges. Includes an
impedance matching endpin preamp for absolutely accurate sound into any instrument amplifier,
direct box or mixing console. Requires onboard 9V battery.

If you don't want to drill or have difficult installations, AND if you want to retain the tone quality from your instrument, this is a recommended pick-up! Excellent for fiddle, guitar, mandolin and banjo & other acoustics. We've tried it & it's great!
