G-50
The first Gallagher guitar was made in 1965. It was designated model G-50 because J. W. Gallagher was 50 years of age. A G-50 used by Doc Watson from 1968 to 1974 has been on display at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tennessee since 1975. This guitar was used on all of Doc's recordings on Flying Fish except one.

The G-50 is still a favorite. It features select quarter-sawn African Mahogany back and sides and a stika spruce top. The sound hole and top purfling are black-white wood strips. The body and headstock are bound with ivoroid. The ebony fingerboard is unbound with pearl dots. The finish is highly polished.

A-70 SMALL BODY - ROSEWOOD (same appointments as G-70)
This guitar is impressive for its beauty, its comfort, and especially for its full tone and easy playability. The A70 is a Rosewood guitar which has the same appointments as the G-70 model with a different body.
The A70 size is referred to as the Auditorium size, which has a smaller body than the dreadnought G-70. To hear this guitar without looking, you might think the sound is coming from the larger body dreadnought. This guitar has a very "big" (deep, full, and very rich) tonal quality, and is very easy to play.
