List: $3100.00 Call for more information This guitar is a pre-war classic. Originally born in 1936, the Advanced Jumbo has roots firmly planted in tradition. To state it clearly, this guitar is a slope shouldered dreadnaught with solid rosewood tone woods and a solid spruce top. But to say this is just another rosewood guitar is like saying that a diamond is just another rock. The Advanced Jumbo has many features that make it stand out among all others and contribute to its unique vintage sound. The Advanced Jumbo is definitely one of the most responsive guitars on the market today. Forward shifted x-bracing allows the top to resonate more freely by opening up the braces under the soundboard. The 25 1/2" scale length gives to the incredible responsive nature of the instrument. With a bone nut and saddle, nickel open geared Gotoh tuners, traditional nitrocellulose laquer to let the instrument breathe throughout the years, and a hot hyde glue neck to body joint, the Advanced Jumbo was designed for superior vibration and tone transfer. The first thing to notice when you pick up an Advanced Jumbo and run across the strings is how quickly the notes jump out at you. This box has a very responsive nature with the notes being evenly smooth and very well balanced. As you continue to play the guitar the bass notes boom out and you can feel the guitar vibrating against your body. This certainly gives justice to that famous G-run that we all know and love. When the upper registers of the instrument are played, they ring out with bell-like clarity and have an added sparkle that isn't common of too many "boomy" instruments. The Advanced Jumbo is played worldwide by some of the very best guitarists in bluegrass today. With a sound so full and rich there is no question why Gibson labels this guitar as the "Original Acoustic Cannon." © 2007 by Janet Davis Music Company Jake Stogdill, Certified Gibson Technician & Specialist, and Janet Davis | |
