This North Carolina band continues to do everything right on this their third album for Rebel, and their 4th overall. Produced by Ronnie Bowman, its their best yet, which is saying a lot as their last CD (One Dime At A Time, REB-1816) was a real winner. Their songs and tunes are predominantly originals (mostly by banjo picker Graham Sharp in this case), their arrangements and harmonies tight, and their musicianship excellent and imaginative, with Mike Gugginos mandolin, Nicky Sanders fiddle and Sharps banjo all working together flawlessly. Woody Platts lead vocals are solid and right on the money. Its solid, power packed traditional Bluegrass, showing the results of years of extensive touring combined with raw talent and good taste. Ronnie Bowman adds harmony vocals on a few numbers, and a little work by Wyatt Rice (guitar) and Randy Kohrs (reso) enhances the album as well. DESPERATE & BLUE, RAMBLIN MAN, DONT EASE ME IN, NEW SLEEPY EYED JOHN, BE STILL MOSES, etc.
