A solid presence from Gibson for five decades, this has to be the most picked out and picked on 5-string on the market. For good reason.
      First of all, it's a "looker". Down through the years, the RB250 has presented countless neophytes and pros alike with classic styling, not too flashy, not too simple. It's gone from a spade shaped peghead, to concentric rings on the resonator, to bright finishes, and now has settled into today's elegant understatement: the working man's Mastertone of 2002. What you see in these pictures is the culmination of refinement by generations of Gibson's luthiers, winding up with this superb instrument.
Consider the woods selected for this. The premium, matched mahoganies that make up the neck and resonator didn't come out of the corner lumberyard. It's PICKED, just like the maple in the rim, with an ear for the best tone. Picked and matched, in a delightful caramel colored union. And those woods conceal it's biggest secret: it has the EXACT 20 HOLE TONE RING found on Gibson's most expensive numbers and all the pre-wars of legend.
It is elegant and graceful, yet a handful when it comes your time to take a break. And no matter how you like that pause: sweet and haunting, or raucous and rowdy, this one delivers. At an affordable price.
