Dear Gary - Wow! Wow! Wow! Your bridge arrived - it's on my banjo - and I feel like I just bought a brand new Stelling "Tree of Life" (for $8,333)! It is truly incredible! In fact, when I first tuned it up, I had the banjo resting on the tail piece on my left knee. And I strummed a cord with my right hand - just to hear the overall sound. And it was REALLY POWERFUL. But then I sat the banjo down, and leaned it back against my bed. And I turned around to my computer, yet the chord just kept on ringing - loud and long - sitting there on the floor! There was never any kind of sustain anywhere remotely similar to that before - even with new strings. And I'm glad you gave me the notched and compensated bridge. It has plenty of deepness and timbre to it, yet, when I play a tune, it sounds like lightening bolts crashing out of the banjo! A funny little joke: My wife always teases me about the noise of the banjo, and suggests I stuff a towel in the resonator, etc. But, after I installed your Sosebee Bridge, I called her back into the bedroom where I practice, and pounded out a few measures for her. "Oh well, I was going to send that man some money, but that's absolutely out of the question now." Meaning - jokingly - that she had been thinking of paying you for the bridge, but now that she hears how loud it is, she doesn't want to have anything to do with it or you! It is truly amazing, Gary. I know it's only a $400 Korean Fender with a 1/2" bridge - which isn't supposed to produce any kind of descent sound. But I'll bet if a good banjo player played on it, with some good banjo players blindfolded and listening to it, they would never believe in a million years that it was an inexpensive banjo! Most of all, I want to thank you for your great kindness, in volunteering to custom make this bridge just as a free birthday present for me - someone you didn't even know.
