I tried the Desert Rose bridge on my Stelling which had a Sosebee
submerged wood bridge on it. The Sosebee is an excellent bridge so I
didn't expect a lot of difference. I was amazed--the Desert Rose gave it
an even better sound. Hard to explain, but it made the sound more clear,
and if anything a little sharper, louder. Not sharper in a bad way--more
distinct. Best I can do. I really like it. Played in a large jam in a
large room last night and it really exploded, and as you know, Stellings
are no slouch anyway.
I also tried it on my Wildwood which had a generic (probably $2) bridge
on it. Oddly, the generic bridge sounded better. I have tried many
bridges on this banjo and the cheap, roughly built bridge that came with
the banjo sounds the best by far. Go figure.
