I am pretty excited about finding your site. I have been attempting to
teach myself the 5-string banjo on and off for close to 30 years now. I
started with the Pete Seeger book ('63 edition with floppy vinyl record),
then couldn't find another book that could take me to the next level. I
could never seem to make the tablature match the sound I heard on the
accompanying recording (if there was one). Either that or I was
unfamiliar with the tune and couldn't pick out the melody from all the
embellishments.
With "Splittin' the Licks", I am off and running again. It is perfect for
me to start with the basic tune and then gradually work up to the full
arrangement (with several variations). This style of instruction has
gotten
me very curious about learning to arrange my own songs, and Janet has not
let me down in that area, either.
My first book about banjo was "Splitting The Licks", (very long time ago
!). Many thanks to Janet Davis for her excellent

Hi, I ordered "Splitting the Licks" from you folks last week, and it was in
my mailbox 2 days later. Wow! I don't think I've ever gotten such fast
service from a mail order place anywhere. The book itself is wonderful.
Just what I was hoping for. Now I can finally get those banjo arrangements
right! Thanks for carrying such a wonderful book and getting it to me so
quickly.
