"Tortis" Picks

For almost 40 years John Greven has toiled to find the perfect substitute for tortoise shell. He has finally found it in this new
material. This is different than the material he uses for his pick guards, or for the picks he once made. This new material
is a polymerized animal protein that is very close chemically to real turtle shell. You could look at it as cultured turtle-shell.
Many people who have tried picks made from this material cannot tell them apart from the real thing.
We round the corners and add a sharp bevel. The picks sand easily so you can sand them to your own preferred shape using
320 grit paper. A thicker pick with a sharper bevel will result in a brighter tone and more pick control and will allow more speed than a thin pick.

Note: We can no longer provide warranty service for the Tortis picks. If you are a heavy-handed picker, then use our medium or heavy gauges of picks. The lights work great if you are playing solo, or with a group in a quieter setting and also for electric guitar. If you get into a flatpickin' frenzy (and who doesn't every now and again), a light-guage pick could very well break. In short, all these picks are brittle, as is real turtle shell. Be careful with them.
